Dubai is the dream destination for many, and rightly so. The tall buildings, expansive
roads, and clean beaches are what everyone dreams of, also Dubai is deemed to be
the safest city on earth, especially for women, making it the ideal destination for
holidays or relocation for many of multiple nationalities. Making it truly one of the
most multicultural cities in the world! However, living in Dubai as an expatriate is
majorly different than visiting it as a tourist. There are three reasons why people
should look before investing in Dubai.
For the first one, one should know that food is very expensive in Dubai and you will
spend a lot of money eating, which increases the cost of living. The trick is to be able
to find cheap and reasonable places to eat if you’re a tourist and honestly just get a
gas connection if you are deciding on staying long-term. The food is more suited for
those who prefer blander flavors, it is tough finding something genuinely spicy and
more suited for the “desi” tongue. Though there are a few cheap restaurants around
the Business Bay area, within International City, and in smaller community areas like
Ras Al Khor which can serve you truly South Asian flavors, European, Far Eastern,
and Arab cuisines in their truest nature are easily found.
While food is an expensive option, the weather is extremely pleasant in Dubai all
year round. If you’re willing to deal with the high costs of living in Dubai, this city has
plenty to offer. You’ll find every entertainment to range from a few dirhams to a few
thousand dirhams, the city boasts of places such as City Walk, JBR, Ain Dubai,
obviously the world-famous Burj Al Arab and Khalifa to name a few but if you’re
looking for hidden gems, visit the turtle sanctuary at Jumeriah Naseem - free of cost,
or just walk down Marina Drive, and let the beautiful sights sink in. The more popular
entertainment options include a visit to Atlantis, Dubai Parks, desert safaris, and
cruises available all year around. Though one might find a Dhow cruise much
cheaper than a private cruise.
But food and fun do not end in Dubai until you’ve been shopping! From bargain
stores that will dress you up like a superstar in a few hundred dirhams, to high-end
stores, this city has something for everyone. Don’t get discouraged though if you’re
not able to buy high-end products at their original price, all you need to do is wait for
sales to hit the stores, which they do with regular frequency and you can just afford
that Gucci bag you’ve been eyeing! However, despite what people think, shopping
at malls might be a convenient option but might not be so cheap on the pocket, the
trick is to find the same stores in areas with small populations or find bargain shops
which are the hidden treasures here and shop from there.
Investing in Dubai isn’t just a good idea, for most, if you live intelligently, it’s a great
idea, imagine visiting for a few days and basking in the sun, going home with
packages of branded ware or being able to raise a family in a city where though
education is expensive but highly regulated, more importantly, safe for you and your
kids to take a walk even at 3 am, with never-ending entertainment options, and with
easy access to the world’s busiest airport, so you can take flight back home anytime
you want with your non-taxable income!
