Sibling Love: A Confusing Enigma

“Siblings: children of the same parents, each of whom is perfectly normal until they get together.” – Sam Levenson This is a quote that I believe truly reflects the feelings of siblings for each other. This month we have been assigned to write about “Love.” In our society when we hear the word love most people imagine Bollywood kind of love and images of a boy and girl dancing around trees flash in their minds. I will take this opportunity and write about love between siblings which is a very different kind of love. I believe it is a deeper, intense, and purer type of love. Some may disagree with me but I believe that there is no bond stronger than that between siblings. Although the relationship between siblings is quite complex and a paradox that has yet to be resolved, it is very beautiful and unique at the same time. Through this article, I would like to try and explore the intricacies of the bond between siblings. Siblings are the best gift that our parents give us. When we ...

Female Protagonists by Female Authors

Since childhood, I was encouraged to develop the habit of reading. I read all sorts of books from fantasies, short stories, and poetry to suspense and thrillers. I would spend hours and hours reading one book after another. When reading a book chapter after chapter I would become so engrossed in reading that I would feel the same intensity of emotions as the characters. If they cried, got hurt, or were upset, tears would roll down my eyes. If the characters were victorious I would cheer for them and celebrate their victories. Slowly and slowly I would imagine the scenes set by the writers in my mind. The lines of reality and imagination would blur and I would see myself walking in school corridors, see myself roaming on faraway moors, or would find myself entering dirty back alleys along with the characters. The stories that we read make a large part of our lives and they reflect our hopes, dreams, and fears. Reading helps us to develop opinions and ideas about other individuals and gr...

Food, shopping, and fun in Dubai, why should we invest in Dubai?

Dubai is the dream destination for many, and rightly so. The tall buildings, expansive roads, and clean beaches are what everyone dreams of, also Dubai is deemed to be the safest city on earth, especially for women, making it the ideal destination for holidays or relocation for many of multiple nationalities. Making it truly one of the most multicultural cities in the world! However, living in Dubai as an expatriate is majorly different than visiting it as a tourist. There are three reasons why people should look before investing in Dubai. For the first one, one should know that food is very expensive in Dubai and you will spend a lot of money eating, which increases the cost of living. The trick is to be able to find cheap and reasonable places to eat if you’re a tourist and honestly just get a gas connection if you are deciding on staying long-term. The food is more suited for those who prefer blander flavors, it is tough finding something genuinely spicy and more suited for the “des...

Mental Health Resources in Pakistan

One of the most common sayings about health is' Health is Wealth'. It is a true saying but over here, it is not specified as to which health is wealth. When we talk about health, we can categorize it into four types, i.e. physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The first three are interconnected and dependent on each other, while the fourth one is a very different case because it is related to one's beliefs and faith. However, it can still affect one's mental and emotional health. When someone is suffering from any type of physical ill health we consult a general practitioner, a hakeem, or a homeopathic doctor. To get help for spiritual ill health we refer to maulvis or alims, etc. All these types of health professionals are easily available. Mental and emotional health are strongly linked to each other because our emotions are controlled by hormones or chemicals produced by the brain and any malfunction in the brain can lead to an increase or decrease of these ho...

The world is changing fast and similarly, the lives of students are also changing. Unlike the olden days nowadays students are leading busy lives and they have to juggle between jobs and attaining education. Besides this, not every student has the finances to go abroad to study.   This is where online education comes in as the availability of online education helps students to acquire degrees from abroad while not having to leave their home country and at half the cost and with less hassle.
